The oldest working steam locomotives in
the world the “FAIRY QUEEN” rolled out of the East Indian Railway in 1855. It
just feels great to be the part of such a historic and ancient asset of Indian
Railways. It used to travel on the Howrah- Raniganj line and later in Bihar
till 1908. Then, in July 1997, the Indian Railway restarted its operation as a
heritage train from Delhi to Alwar and from there the tourists are taken to
world famous Sariksa Wildlife Sanctuary. The Fairy Queen, holds the Guinness
World Record and the National Tourism Award, and was again on the tracks from
Delhi to Alwar with the first trip of the tourist season on 26th Oct 2002.
Many seasons have changed, time has changed, but the Fairy Queen remains
unchanged blowing the trumpet in same manner which carry’s out the same
expertise of the olden days. The Fairy Queen locomotive hauls an AC chair car
coach accommodating 50 tourist with an attached pantry car for on - board
catering services to the delight of the holidaymakers. There’s a cherry on a
cake in the form of large glass window, which provides an enchanting view of
rural and true countryside and the unique and beautiful engine bogey of the
train. The itinerary is for the two-day and one-night memorable journey,
exclusively designed for the nature lovers who can explore the rich wildlife
of Sariska Sanctuary. The trip is brimming with amusement and recreation
provided by a memorable revival of a chugging train journey supplemented with
cultural programs theme dinner at the hotel, jeep safari to the Tiger
Sanctuary. So this a much of a good break from the monotony of daily modern
life, an experience of once in a lifetime.
